The prostitution of talent

In an article in the The Republic, Matt Hogan discusses issues such as;

...will genuine creativity and ethical input impede a business from turning a bigger profit? Similarly, are academics intellectually compromised by serving corporations?

Ultimately, his conclusions tend towards corporate=evil because, in his view, profit motive and corporate loyalty cancel out anything ethical. Perhaps, though, corporations will promote ethical actions because they create value that may not show up on the balance sheet, but are very obvious to shareholders, employees and customers?
